Hump Day!

We are playing with watercolors still

I zoomed in to this rose and then painted what was there...

Then today I finished it

Augh... so sorry its a lousy photo!
My card reader quit on me!

The project for my students was to
end up with an abstract painting similar to a Georgia O'Keefe

Happy Wednesday everybody!!

HERE IS A BETTER PICTURE…

A Sunny Monday!

Hello there my sweet friends!!
It is a beautiful spring morning here in New England.
So many Mondays in January, February and March
were dark and gloomy snowy days.  This makes today a real treat!
I always say I will cherish every day in the month of April.

The sun was coming in and lit up my fern I have in the gallery

There are so many pretty shades of green

In my last post I mentioned doing a still life of Jacks and marbles

Here are some of my students work

Having fun with black and white tones

All for today!
Have a great one!!

A day in the life of an art teacher!

Hi there my sweet friends!
I come in early every morning so as to get a good jump on my day.

First ...to set up a still life for my Drawing and Painting class.

They will be working with colored pencils on this study
of "Childs Play".
I want to try this still life in my watercolors.

Next prepare handouts for students to read on Georgia O'Keefe.
We have a film on her life we will finish watching first .
My Museum Art Class will be then taking photographs of a flower and magnify it (zoom into it) and paint what
they see in pastels and watercolors.

Meanwhile I see that the 3D class
sculptures are drying and will be ready to put on the finishing touches soon!

And now just writing this small post I have run out of time and need to get busy teaching!

Thank you for stopping by!
Come back again soon and remember I love your comments!!!

Spice it up a bit!

Snow, snow, and more snow!!
We need something to liven the place up a bit so…
I borrowed this beautiful dress from the Spanish classroom and...

My students have a wonderful colorful subject to draw and paint!

I love the detail of the lace and the shadows it casts

Maracas added the final touch!

Love playing a bit in photoshop too!

So even today with the clouds and scattered snow showers
we had something fun and bright and different to work on.

3:20 am

Oh, yes it is quite early!
It is Monday morning and normally if I can't sleep I would be stressing about
Having to get up in a few hours and get myself off to work. But, the weather has made a change in my plans as school is closed today. Yes ...yet another winter storm is upon us.
So, now instead of squeezing my eyes shut and forcing myself to sleep
I am blogging!

I started blogging quite a few years ago. I need to look back through my archives to see exactly how long it's been. But my guess is about 9 years....wait I was able to scroll back and my blog was created on September 21, 2006!

Right now I'm blogging on my iPad. I love this portable little square miracle but, I haven't gotten to know how to use it as far as adding photos to my blog. So bear with me and I hope to bring some colorful and original art and photos here soon!

Have a great day my friends!

Down East…Still life

Hello my friends!!
Today we are working on a still life.
I have a yellow slicker, well worn
leather gloves and old lantern.

Wish I had some rope netting and an old lobster trap but ...I will have to do without that.

Here are some views and filters I am playing with…

The old gloves have so much character!

I love to go in and crop a small portion to work on.

As soon as I can I will show you some of the students and my drawings of this still life!
