After several years of having been fusing glass for ornaments and jewelry, I discovered a process in wool felting, called Nuno, which can also be described as the fusing of fibers. I was immediately attracted to Nuno as the mixing of fibers of different textures and colors reminded me of how pieces of glass combine when molten to form swirls. Nuno felting is the fusing of wool fibers and fabric into beautiful hybrids from which I make one-of-kind garments and accessories. The Nuno process as I practice it, is entirely handcrafted, the wool and other fibers are treated with soap, water and most importantly, elbow grease.

My Nuno scarves are felted with silk fabric, Merino wool, Bamboo and other fibers.
They are hand washable using a mild soap and cool water, do not wring just squeeze out the water and line dry.

My handcrafted felted “all in one” purses have no seams and the handles are incorporated into the body of the bag. Some are reversible. The small pouches and purses are wet felted with Merino wool batting, roving and other fibers.

My handcrafted exfoliating soaps are felted with soft Merino wool. The exfoliating is gentle yet effective. Lather the bar in your hands with warm water then use. As the soap gets used up the wool pad can be recycled as a scrubbing pad for the kitchen or bath.

At present my handcrafted felted purses, clutches, Nuno scarves and exfoliating soaps can be purchased at the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Saratoga Art Center and in October at Departures located at Albany International Airport.
