Ahh... Sweet Spring!

Greetings Dear Friends!!!
I am getting all excited about planting some new items in my garden this spring!
Before I get too carried away with the purchassng of plants
I want to try making some cool planters that
are called-Hypertufa

Hypertufa Recipes
Hypertufa is a substitute for Tufa rock, a spongy rock found in limestone country. Though not as strong and durable as a standard concrete, hypertufa can be used to create some interesting finishes on stepping stones. If the stones are intended solely for decoration, you can fill the entire mold with hypertufa. If the stepping stones are intended for foot traffic, fill the bottom 1/2- 1 inch of the mold with hypertufa, then top the mold with a concrete mix. For extra stability and strength, lay strips of nylon sheeting or fibers in between the hypertufa and concrete layers.

Recipe #1
3 quarts Portland cement, white or grey
2 1/4 quarts sand, white or grey
4 quarts peatmoss
1 1/2 quarts water
Mix the dry ingredients well. Slowly add water. This mixture doesn't contain as much water as a standard concrete recipe because hypertufa has a more open, porous texture. Therefore add water until the mix resembles a crumbly cookie dough. Press the mix firmly into the mold.

Recipe #2
3 quarts Portland cement, white or grey
3 quarts peatmoss
3 quarts perlite
1 quart water
Mix the dry ingredients well. Slowly add water. This mixture doesn't contain as much water as a standard concrete recipe because hypertufa has a more open, porous texture. Therefore add water until the mix resembles a crumbly cookie dough. Press the mix firmly into the mold.

I can't wait to try and make at least one of these!!
I will leave you today with
some appropriate scripture...

11 See! The winter is past;
the rains are over and gone.
12 Flowers appear on the earth;
the season of singing has come,
the cooing of doves
   is heard in our land.
13 The fig tree forms its early fruit;
the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Song of Solomon 2:11-13

What a Lovely say it is!!
The sun is shining and the words from the Bible say it all!

The sweet new blooms are like a breath of fresh air!!

Happy Friday my friends!!
Hugs

So many ideas so little free time!!!

Hello there my friends!

Everyone has finally returned from their April school vacations!
Things are pretty much back to normal in the classes and
of course the seniors are getting pretty anxious to graduate!!

I find myself wanting to do so many things that my head feels like I am in a tornado
of ideas!

Between wanting to get some hanging baskets up on the deck. (now that the weather is warmer)
Starting a garden, getting a fence put up, completing more paintings on silk scarves, working on my watercolors, pen & ink drawings and acrylics, making jewelry, get some photos printed out...
Oh yes...  open the Limelightartworks Etsy store...
Yikes!!!

Hmmmm....think I will work on getting the Etsy Store opened first!

I have many of my hand painted spring and summer silk scarves to list.
Here is a peek at what we will offer!
Iris - Up Close
As you can see-I especially love
painting flowers on the silk scarves!
Springtime Quince

Then I have soft pastels of various scenes
such as this one below.

Street Scenes In Paris (with fringe)
I have plenty more to show you as soon as I finish photographing them!

Thats all for today!
I promise to be back first thing tomorrow!!
so-see you then
Hugs!!!

Catching up

Greetings my friends
So sorry it's been a while since my last post.
After a quick trip down to see my see my sweet Parents
I was back to school for a few days and then I was off once again!

Luckily my 3d class was able to finish all of their clay
coil vessels...so they should be nicely dried and ready to be fired when we all return next week.
My graphic design class have completed their adorable text creations and we will get them matted and ready to hang.
And my drawing and painting class are about halfway through their lovely acrylic paintings.

When we all return to class next week the race to finish all the projects I planned to have them do (before the school year ends) will begin!
Yes...so many projects...so little time :0)

Thanks for stopping by Y'all
Hugs

Think about it...

Hi there my sweet friends!
Here it is April 2nd!!
Love, love, love April! Its the official gate way to spring!

I shall return with some updates about my Etsy shop and other artwork.

But today I want to share with you some
humorous things
To Think About...

What do they call a coffee break at the Lipton Tea Company?
Isn't it a bit unnerving that doctors call what they do "practice?"

Why is the word abbreviation so long?
And whose cruel idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

Is there another word for synonym?

So what's the speed of dark?

Since light travels faster than sound, isn't that why some people appear bright until you hear them speak?
Why are there 5 syllables in the word "monosyllabic?"
How come Superman could stop bullets with his chest, but always ducked when someone threw a gun at him?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?
Is boneless chicken considered to be an invertebrate?
Why is there an expiration date on my sour cream container?

Why do they call it a TV set when you only get one?
Never agree to plastic surgery if the doctor's office is full of portraits by Picasso.

STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS.

As I said before, I never repeat myself!
Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday.
It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere.
Why is it that a slim chance and a fat chance can mean the same thing, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? Before they invented drawing boards, what did they go back to?

If practice makes perfect, and nobody's perfect, why practice?
Why is there always one in every crowd?
Why do we say something is out of whack? What is a whack?

If money does not grow on trees, why do banks have branches?
If you cut off a glowworm's tail would it be delighted?
If you were under house arrest and you lived in a mobile home, wouldn’t you be able to go anywhere you want?
If our body temperature is normally 98.6 degrees, how come when it's 98 degrees outside, no one is comfortable? Why are the numbers on a calculator and a phone reversed?
When you see the weather report and it says "partly cloudy" and then the next day it says "partly sunny"; what’s the difference?
How do you know which armrest is yours in the movie theaters?
If you say something is indescribable, isn't that describing it?
Do Dutch people always split the bill?
If you died with braces on would they take them off?
Why do you go “back and forth” to town if you really must go forth before you go back?
Why is it when some products you have to turn it upside down to read the directions, and the directions say do not turn upside down?
Why do bankruptcy lawyers expect to be paid?

Wouldn't you think big cities would have an emergency phone number 119 just in case someone with dyslexia has an emergency?
