Down East…Still life

Hello my friends!!
Today we are working on a still life.
I have a yellow slicker, well worn
leather gloves and old lantern.

Wish I had some rope netting and an old lobster trap but ...I will have to do without that.

Here are some views and filters I am playing with…

The old gloves have so much character!

I love to go in and crop a small portion to work on.

As soon as I can I will show you some of the students and my drawings of this still life!

Today the winter winds are really blowing!

Brrr … But the temperatures are a bit warmer than yesterday!
Yesterday the windchill was about 20 BELOW ZERO!!
In fact school was cancelled- No one want the students out in that kind of weather.
This is the view from the gallery.
Its very snowy but seems to be a very dry and powdery snow.

This photo makes me feel chilled!
Cold grey/blue stone and snow beginning to stick.

No, I'm not a skier anymore so- I don't really have an appreciation of fresh falling snow.

However it was a great morning to have an early coffee with my co workers.
Kim brought in a mouth watering chocolate and cranberry/raisin loaf.
No matter how cold it gets I still enjoy my iced coffee

Have a great day and keep warm!!

Teaching Art and such...

Well here it is already the 21st of November!
I haven't been keeping up with my blog for a variety of reasons Im sorry to say.
First and foremost I have been away from my classroom and studio for a while now.
My sweet mother became ill and passed away late in October. I feel fortunate to have been able to be there with her.

I have been busy trying to catch up with all the responsibilities of being a teacher
and I do hope to return once again to my studio.

My parents always supported my brother and sister and I in any of our endeavors and
it is to them I dedicate my next painting. I have been working on it for a long time and now am
almost finished with it!

I can hardly wait to complete it and take some photos to share it with you!
So bear with me as I do plan to
return to writing my blog and sharing mart with you!

Hugs to you all  my friends!

My Faux Hobonichi Journal

Hello my friends!!

As I wrote before this is my Faux Hobonichi Journal
I made from a Composition notebook

Here are some pages from my journal
As you can see I am drawing the events of the day and adding a bit of text…

This page (on right)was back from August 12.
It was my Dads Birthday (He would have been 92)
I had bought a lottery ticket (not a winning one)
It was the day when the sad news of Robin Williams suicide came out.
Oh and I had a run in with a huge wasp in my bedroom .
And, we had fish for supper...

You may wonder how I ever heard of the Hobonichi Journal?
I must give credit to "MissVickyBee " on YouTube.
She explains it so well and also shares samples from her own Faux Hobonichi Journal.
Vicky also has a blog at
Makeupnall.blogspot.com

So...Thats all for now
Come back again soon!
Hugs, Mary
