Was that the weekend?

Hi there my friends!
Happy Monday morning!
Do any of you feel like I do?
The weekend flew by so darn fast its a blur!!

I am ashamed that I did not mention last week that 2 of
my best friends celebrated their birthdays!!!

Happy Birthday Jaylee
                 &
Happy Birthday Renee!!!

I hope you had a wonderful day and may you know only

good health and happiness in the year to follow!!!

Making Our Books Part 2

After the painted paste papers dried....

we cut them to just a little larger than

the cardboard we would use for covers.

After gluing the papers onto cardboard they made up the inside of the book

Each book had 6 signatures of 4 pages
Yes-Threading the needles was the hardest part!!!

All Finished!

As I said before they all did a great job!
I think they are quite pleased as well!!!

Thanks for stopping by!
See you soon

A Lovely Spring Day!!

Hi my Dear Friends!!
It is so lovely outside!!!
I can't tell you how much I enjoy the blue skies and the sounds of spring (little birdies)
Yes, yes-I know we had an easy winter but none the less I APPRECIATE
Spring's arrival!
SO...
Get outside while you can-
I hear the more seasonable -expected March
weather is to return to us in a few short days.

Hey all-Here is a blog you Moms with small children will ESPECIALLY LOVE!!!

http://raisingcreativehearts.blogspot.com

For the past few weeks I have been having all of my art students make their own
sketch books!
The results has been just lovely!!!

At the start we created the paper that would become their covers.
(*Actually the paper that will cover their covers)

              Making Books Part I

First thing to do was to make up
                                   batches of "Paste Paint"

Spread the Paste Paint on the paper...

Students created various patterns with pieces of wood,
cut cardboard & random tools.

Happily working

Cool designs!

Ta Dah!!

Tee heee!!!
By now I am sure you are just dying to get busy making your own
Paste Painted Papers!!

Stay tuned for Part II

Junior Duck Stamp Exhibit

Hello friends!
I am so happy that our school was chosen
to be one of the schools hosting this marvelous traveling exhibit!
The Junior Duck Stamp Competition is national contest to design a special "Duck Stamp"
All of the submissions are divided into several age groupings from
 Kindergarten through the 12th grade.
A winning piece of artwork is chosen by each state.
The exhibit we are hosting consists of the 100 pieces that won honors
and prizes!

My goodness the art work is MOST IMPRESSIVE!!!
I was thrilled to be able to coordinate  the exhibit at the same
time our school is putting on the spring musical!

Yes ...I do have photos from the exhibit and I will be posting them
as soon as possible!
Until then
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

In like a lion...

Happy March!
As the saying goes...in like a lion
Out like a lamb.
March arrived with lots of the cold wet fluffy white stuff!

I do not really mind if it means we will have lovely spring weather
when the end of March arrives.
